Following the conviction (21 month suspended sentence) of Ian Buckley (56) in March 2018, an investigation under the proceeds of Crime Act was undertaken.
The case came before the court again to resolve those matters. Sitting in Northampton Crown Court Judge Lucking ordered that Mr Buckley had benefited from his criminal conduct to the sum of £669,280 and made a confiscation order in the sum of £543,500, which is one of the largest compensation rulings to date in dealing with intellectual property property crime.
Mr Buckley was given 3 months to pay this amount. Failure to pay will result in a prison sentence of 5 years and 2 months.
This is a great result after the painstaking investigative work by TRAP partners Surelock and authorities dating back to 2015.
